Residents in the U.S. border with Mexico exhibit some practices and report perceptions suggesting risks of exposure to toxic chemical, including pesticides There is a need of an adequate educational intervention to minimize risks of exposure to residential pesticides that is sensitive to Hispanics and the border culture. This project will be implemented in the 3-state border region (Texas-Chihuahua-New Mexico), specifically in El Paso, TX, Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Sunland Park, NM. The aim of this project is recognize the impacts of two community-based interventions that improve environmental health by minimizing household pesticide exposures as reported by participants. The design of this project will allow us to identify which intervention is most effective in changing knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward the reduction of risks related to household pesticides.
