According to the national inventory of emissions of Mexico (INEM, 2005) of the sources that circulate on highways, heavy-duty diesel vehicles emit 51%, 60% and 51% of PM10 and PM2.5, and NOx, respectively. These emissions are a significant threat to health especially in children and older adults. The Clean Transportation Program promotes retrofits on shipping trucks to reduce polluting emissions from diesel vehicles. The project aims to raise awareness to the transportation companies on the issue of emissions of diesel units as well as show them that there are devices that can help to reduce these emissions.
