The project seeks to complete a tire bale section of road at the Brownsville Landfill to evaluate the viability in using waste tires in the form of bales as a road base. The City of Brownsville intends to extend and use this road in the future to ease traffic at the landfill and if possible make use of additional tire bales from waste tires for this purpose. If successful the project could facilitate the recovery and recycling of the scrap tires, diminish the amount of stored scrap tires, and potentially reduce the amount of improperly disposed tires.
