Projects
BECC and NADB were established to help address critical environmental and human health conditions in the border region related to the lack of adequate environmental infrastructure. To achieve this objective, BECC works with local, state, federal and private-sector sponsors to develop projects through a process consistent with its Certification Criteria, NADB financing prerequisites, and other applicable regulatory or funding requirements.
Certified Projects
Working with project sponsors at the local, state and federal levels, BECC’s primary purpose is supporting border communities in identifying, and developing environmental infrastructure projects, in order to improve human health, promote sustainable development and contribute to enhancing the quality of life in the border region.
Project Pipeline
Projects may be submitted to BECC at varying levels of development, from concept to final design; therefore, the pending development requirements are determined on a project-by-project basis and the defined tasks directly influence the time and effort required to complete this process. Project seeking certification and are under development are placed in the Project Pipeline.
Border 2012 Projects
From to 2005 to 2012, the U.S.-Mexico Border 2012 Program achieved its goals and objectives by completing approximately 200 environmental projects. Border 2012 Program was based on a bottom-up, regional approach, which relies heavily on local input, decision-making, priority-setting, and project implementation to best address environmental issues in the border region.
